Print August 06, 2009 Article from: Australian Associated Press THE Australian Federal Police (AFP) say they are not investigating a local connection to Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
Four-year-old Madeleine vanished from her family's rented holiday apartment in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, while her parents dined with friends at a nearby restaurant.
British media say a private investigators search is underway for an Australian woman who may be able to shed light on the case.
It's been reported the private detectives have been told an Australian woman had a late night chat to a British man outside a bar in Barcelona in Spain, three days after the young girl went missing. The witness only came forward in recent weeks, the reports said.
"This woman is reported to have said something highly significant to the British witness; significant enough for us to launch a hunt for her," one of the detectives said.
"The British man has only recently come forward. There appear to be a number of good reasons for that. But he has been checked out thoroughly and seems credible," the Mirror online said.
The AFP said today the case was not being followed up locally.
"We haven't received a request for any assistance," a spokeswoman said. "So at this stage we are not investigating any of the allegations made ... this morning."
Investigators hired by Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann are expected to hold a press conference in London to release images of the person being sought.
The McCanns believe Madeleine is alive and can be found unless they are shown clear evidence to the contrary.
Portuguese police closed their investigation a year ago.
Beautiful Asian Bride from Macau, China and Asia These are ladies who are ready and waiting for love, marriage and family. Asian bride ladies want to settle down and marry you and have your children and care for their family. If you are looking for a relationship without the commitment of marriage then you are in the wrong area.
There are countless marriage agencies advertising millions of attractive, intelligent and well educated young women in Asia, the former USSR, Latin America and Europe who are seeking a better life with a loving man from the West.
In general these ladies are not greatly concerned about the man's age, looks, or income level. What is important to them is that he is genuine and decent. A man who will be a loving husband to her, and a good father to her children. If you are looking for a wonderful Asian bride and are ready to begin the most rewarding and exciting adventure of a lifetime then the answer may lie in discovering the mail order bride!
There are countless ladies from many countries around the world looking for a western man to love and marry. These ladies have been raised with traditional values where the wife takes care of her family and the husband works to provide for the family. In general, men seeking a foreign bride are looking for the traditional husband-wife relationship where the woman sees her role as the stay at home family supporter. Her role is to care for her family.
It is very important that you find marriage agencies that are legitimate and offer an excellent service. There are many mail order bride sites to choose from. Many of these agencies are not worth the time and effort. We only list the ones that we have personally researched and offer excellent 5 star service.
Marriage Agency Scams Beware there are syndicates that work by setting up mail order bride sites or marriage agencies. On the site will be pictures of attractive Russian girls or beautiful Latin girls or sexy Asian ladies. You will then think that you are corresponding with these ladies but in actual fact, this is just a front and after a short while all contact from the lady ceases. It appears that this lady has lost interest or she has chosen another person instead of you. There are also individual ladies who are dishonest and set out to scam western men by corresponding with them and then asking for money for phone calls or air fares to visit you. Never send money to any lady.
Don't let this alarm you, like everything else, there are scam artists everywhere. This situation is no different. All you need to do is make sure you use reputable marriage agencies like the ones listed here. If you are still concerned - you can read more about mail order bride scams.
Matthew Johns scandal:
The investigation into the sex scandal that cost disgraced rugby league personality Matthew Johns his job will not be re-opened, New Zealand police say.
Johns' media and coaching career is in tatters after the ABC's Four Corners program aired allegations about his involvement in a 2002 group sex incident in Christchurch while he was playing for Cronulla.
Johns was one of several Cronulla players who took part in the act with a 19-year-old woman.
At the time, New Zealand police investigated the woman's claims that the sex was non-consensual, but the investigation cleared all players of wrongdoing.
Detective Inspector David Long, from Christchurch police, said the original investigation involved up to 80 interviews, and was thorough and conclusive.
"I'm completely satisfied that we got full and truthful accounts at the time and that no crime was committed," Det Insp Long told AAP on Thursday.
"There's renewed interest now, obviously from this television program, but there's been no new information whatsoever that's come forward that changes anything.
Advertisement "So as far as reopening it, it's just not going to happen."
He said the moral issues around group sex with a teenager were best left to commentators and were not a matter for police.
"There are moral aspects to this ... but these are not for the police to consider when enforcing the law," Det Insp Long said.
He also said the woman involved had been in touch with him again recently regarding the case, but that contact had not altered the situation.
Johns has been stood down by the Nine Network and has quit his position as an assistant coach at the Melbourne Storm in light of the recent developments.
On Wednesday night, the former Test star apologised for the "pain and embarrassment" he caused the woman, but insisted she was a "willing participant" in everything that occurred in the hotel room seven years ago.
"Any trauma and embarrassment she has gone through as the result of this incident I am extremely sorry for," Johns told the Nine Network.
"At no point did she object to what was going on ... at no stage was she under any distress."
He said he was not guilty of abuse, but he was guilty of infidelity and stupidity.

"We could not thank Rob and his team at Magnum enough for the search and contact that they did for us. Their service was professional, they listened well and followed though with what we asked for and were very caring about the delivery and outcome. Rob had very little information to go on and he was able to deliver a great result. “It was one of the best days in my life when they finally found my long lost daughter and she made contact with me”. We have had a number of enquiries from the public wanting to find out more information on training to become a private investigator. Now that I think about it I dont see too many advertisements saying "do you want to become a Private Investigator". We are somewhat of a secretive bunch due to the nature of the work however the trade is an extremely exciting and rewarding one and one that you dont have to have a tertiary qualification to get anywhere.
The training is exciting and challenging and often after finishing the surveillance side of the course the students are literally buzzing with keeness.
With your previous experience you may well qualify for some prior recognition of learning. I have watched a number of former students really find themselves in this industry and it is rewarding to see.
You may find yourself on surveillance one minute, then following a subject on foot and then by vehicle and trying to locate a missing person the next. Let me tell you now, that there is no better feeling than giving someone the news that you have found a loved one.
We can guide you on where to go to train with leaders in the industry so if you are interested in an exciting career call or email us.
